RIPPLE FISHER SILVER STREAM REDEYE 88 , THE BEND

Circa un anno e mezzo fa avevo scritto le mie impressioni sulla canna del titolo... avendone un'altra per le mani approfitto per fare un paio di foto in più.

Le impressioni sono sempre le stesse del post passato queste ... chi me l'ha ordinata ora la userà per trote marmorate in grandi fiumi e devo dire che mi pare una scelta assai azzeccata.

Perfetta con stellino 4000-5000 e trecciato da 20-30 libbre, reattiva per muovere i minnows, i lipless e gli ondulanti a grande distanza, e sensibile per sentirne i movimenti anche in correnti profonde.

Nel combattimento pochi dubbi, nasce per mostri, una falsa magra in pratica :)
Eccola in piega successiva fino ad alzare completamente 1.5 kg senza il minimo pensiero... ben altra la sua riserva di potenza, come si intuisce dal fusto ancora praticamente non coinvolto.

Brutte foto ma il povero telefono fa quello che può in una giornata di pioggia e in luce artificiale... però l'idea la rendono :)

About one year and half ago i wrote this piece about the rod in object... now that i have another specimen in my hands I take the occasion to snap a couple picture more, putting it in bend to appreciate its qualities.

The friend who ordered it is planning to use it for hunting big marbled trouts in alpine rivers, and I have no doubts it is vwry well suited to the task; its responsiveness will help in working big minnow, lipless and spoon in long distance and to fill their vibrations even under several meters of moving current.

Perfectly paired with Stella 4000-5000 and 20 to 30 lbs pe line, its power is more than enough to tangle huge trouts... it was born for fighting monster akame in original idea.

The pictures show the bend until lifting completely off the floor 1.5 kilos of weight, but the straight first half gives an idea of the hidden reserve power.

LA NOSTRA PASSIONE IN VIDEO - LE TROTE GIGANTI DI HF CHANNEL

Per chi mi conosce da vicino non è un mistero che collabori con la piattaforma di HF Channel fin dalla sua nascita, un po' perchè legato dalla lunghissima amicizia col deus ex machina del canale, ovvero il buon Boris M. Salnicoff, uno dei pochi pescatori più ingombranti di me dal punto di vista dello spazio occupato :D , un po' perchè mi diverto ogni qual volta ci sia la possibilità di trasformare in video e condividere con gli altri le emozioni di questa bellissima attività che è la pesca con gli artificiali.

Da spettatore, proprio le sensazioni trasmesse sono la chiave che mi porta a dedicare il mio tempo alla visione di un buon filmato, tanto è il materiale disponibile sia su web che su canali tematici, ma è appunto il coinvolgimento provato a suscitare o meno il mio interesse; perchè, nella mia personalissima idea, le immagini devono rapire e fare sognare, servono a fuggire dalla realtà del lavoro quotidiano e darci quel momento di terapeutica astrazione, magari utile a programmare per noi stessi quelle avventure in un futuro prossimo.

Tutto questo l'ho ritrovato nel vedere l'esperienza islandese di Boris, dedicata alla ricerca di trote XL con la mosca nel freddo dei paesaggi nordici.
Un filmato sicuramente intrigante, nonostante io non peschi a mosca e nonostante io odi praticamente il freddo con la mia "anima tropicale"... Eppure tra pesci vagamente preistorici, dagli artic char obesi alle fario monumentali, tutto condito da una dose sovrabbondante di vento e gelo, il desiderio di visitare quelle acque, di essere lì con la mia canna a vivere le stesse fatiche e combattere le stesse creature sale veramente prepotente.
Tutto ciò è testimonianza e prova di un filmato di gran qualità, non solo dal punto di vista della tecnica o della regia che da profano posso apprezzare solo marginalmente, ma soprattutto per la godibilità e le sensazioni che lascia dietro di se. In due parole vale proprio la pena di essere visto e anche rivisto.

Quindi 10 e lode caro Boris, centro pieno con questo lavoro a cui mi aspetto ne seguano mille altri!
E ovviamente un invito a tutti gli amici a godersi un ottimo momento di pesca!

To my close friends it is not a mistery that I've been collaborating with the HF Channel project since its birth, due to the long time friendship with Boris M. Salnicoff who is the developer of such idea and one of the few fishermen around able to fill more pace than me, and due for the other side to the pleasure in sharing in video the feelings that this great passion that is lure fishing.

The sensation transmitted are the reason that make me spend time watching a good video; you can find thousands on the web and on thematic channels, but it is the emotional involvement that make me choose to spend my time in front of the tv ( or monitor ). Documentaries in my mind are meant to give me a temporary ascape from everyday reality, they should make us dream and bring us away in those magical places that we could visit for real ina a day not too far.

I found all that while looking at Boris's Iceland experience, in pursue of XL trouts with fly gear in the cold of northern lanscapes.
Surely an intriguing video for me, despate the fact I am no fly fisherman and that I hate cold weather due to my "tropical soul" ..... But, the result of seeing somewhat prehistoric fishes, from fat artic chars to mammoth brown trouts, all seasoned with an overabundant dose of ice and wind, is the desire to visit those waters and be there with my rod in hand doing the same efforts and challengind the same creatures.

So, Mr Salnicoff, mission accomplished, thumbs up and keep on the good work!

KERE' - LIGHT TACKLE PARADISE

We did it again... another week in that african paradise named "Ile Kerè"... a fantastic little jewel far from the modern rithm, but at same time so comfortable that we feel almost at home.
Only difference is I have no good fishing right out the window when I am in Italy ...

Nature and surroundings are worth the trip alone, but we must add the great fishing both for variety and numbers.

Ci siamo cascati di nuovo, un'altra settimana in quel piccolo eden africano chiamato "Ile Kerè" ... un piccolo gioiello lontano dai ritmi moderni ma allo stesso tempo così confortevole da sentirsi come a casa... Unica differenza, in Italia non ho ua pesca così spettacolare appena fuori dalla finestra...

La natura e i paesaggi da soli varrebbero il viaggio, ma dobbiamo aggiungere la pesca spettacolare sia come varietà che numeri.

And what about extra light shore fishing?

E della pesca extra light dalla riva ne parliamo?

Well, like other times we've already decided to coma back again next year, possibly november/december 2016... if somebody wants to join us just let us know ...

NETHERLAND BASSIN'

I grew up looking at european seabass as a hard to catch and elusive predator of my home sea, I learnt how to catch it even if never dedicated too much time to it, wrong move as the "branzino" hunt can be very challenging and a lot of fun.

That is why, when I received an invitation by my friend Lesley to join him in Europort area, I didn't think twice, took a couple rods, a bunch of lures and minimum luggage and jumped on a Ryanair flight for a somewhat different experience.
He in fact runs a very nice guide service, with fully equipped boat that was projected and built especially for this kind of fishing, as you can check directly on his webpage bassexpress.nl
He has a huge knowledge of local fishes and a great skill in finding them

Sono cresciuto considerando la spigole come un predatore schivo e difficile da catturare nelle acque adriatiche in cui ero solito cercarla. Ho imparato a pescarla ma non ho mai dedicato tanto tempo, mossa sbagliata magari, visto che la sua ricerca può essere una divertente sfida.

Ecco perchè, quando il mio amico Lesley mi ha invitato a raggiungerlo per una pescata nelle acque dell'Europort, non ci ho pensato due volte, ho preso un paio di canne, un po' di artificiali e un bagaglio molto basico e sono montato sul primo aereo Ryanair direzione Olanda.

Well, first impact is so strange, surrounding are heavily industrialized, scenery is completely manmade and somewhat blade runner like, we fish among big chimneys and enormous vessels, all the opposite I look for when at home.... but fishes are there, and in astounding big numbers.
Under the water the environment is in very healthy conditions and seabass are fat and aggressive.

Il primo impatto è stranissimo, i panorami sono pesantemente industrializzati, tutto è artificiale, sembra di stare sul set di bladerunner; si pesca tra raffinerie ed enormi navi cargo, tutto il contrario di quanto cerco quando sono a casa.... però le spigole sono lì, in numero assolutamente incredibile.
Sotto la superficie l'ambiente è in ottime condizioni a i pesci sono grassi e aggressivi.

As the zone is a big bay system connecting river mouths to the sea and the current shifts a lot depending on tide, it is very important to move on the right spot in the right moment in order to find perfect conditions, and the mobility of  Lesley's fast boat helps a lot, even if fishing can be done also from shore.. when we hit the right spot fishes are there in big numbers, and double hookups are common thing

Dato che la zona è una grande baia che connette le foci di un paio di fiumi al mare e che l'escursione di marea è piuttosto ampia, la chiave è trovarsi al punto giusto nella fase di corrente giusta, e una veloce barca aiuta non poco allo scopo, anche se pure da riva la pesca può essere ottima. Essere nel giusto spot significa pescare su tanto pesce, spesso imbrancato, e le doppie catture sono assolutamente la regola.

My rod of choice has been  Yamaga Blanks Blue Current 72/C Ti, with 15 grams of lure range and paired with PE0.8... perfect to deal with these fishes with both hardbaits and soft shads like Black minnow and Artic Eel.

Come canna ho usato la mia cara Yamaga Blanks Blue Current 72/C Ti, potenza fino a 15 grammi con trecciato da PE 0.8 ( 12 libbre ) ... spettacolare e divertente con questi pesci, tanto con hardbait che con soft shad come Black Minnow e Artic Eel

AYNO BIG ....

Ok, time to grow big for the Ayno.... inspiration have been what is already on market, speciphically the Native Works Napalm lure that I first discovered three years ago...here
While I still love the original, I wanted a different movement in my lure, same I have found for smaller Ayno prototype... I want a more wobbling and less rolling retrieve, not "S" shaped trajectory like stickbaits and like Napalm, but a more wobbling action, kind of a minnow with a popping face suited also for slow retrieves...  Ima sasuke and komomoII have given me some input too..... but from these 3 starting points i redisigned completely the weight position to tailor the action to my desired result....

I also made head angle less sharp than smaller Ayno, otherwise swimming depth would be too much...

This is meant to be a big fish lure, to be popped and swam under the surface... 2 mm through wire and 21.5 mm... wooden prototype but will be produced in resin if up to the expectation... testing will go on quickly I hope... I want it ready and reliable for April big fish trip in the Pacific ....

Momento di crescita per l'Ayno.... l'ispirazione è venuta da quanto già sul mercato, nello specifico il Napalm della Native Works, che ho scoperto per la prima volta tre anni fa.. qui
Nonostante mi piaccia molto l'originale, volevo un movimento differente, lo stesso che produce il prototipo dell'Ayno piccino da 10 cm.... volevo un maggiore wobbling e non una traiettoria a "S" come uno stickbait, tipo un minnow con il muso da popper, adatto anche a recuperi più lenti...
Anche il sasuke della Ima e il komomoII mi hanno dato qualche input, ma da questi tre punti di inizio ho ridisegnato completamente la posizione delle zavorre per arrivare all'azione che desideravo.

Ho anche reso l'angolo della bocca più verticale rispetto all'Ayno più piccolo, per non avere una profondità di nuoto eccessiva..

E' un'esca destinata a igrossi pesci tipo cubere, tonni e GT, che poppera a galla e nuota sotto la superficie... armatura continua da 2 mm e 21.5 cm di lunghezza.. il peso lo vedremo, ma sarà realizzato in resina se il prototipo di legno soddisferà tutte le richieste.
I test dovrebbero essere rapidi, ho le idee piuttosto chiare e lo voglio pronto per il nostro viaggio di Aprile nel Pacifico...
