WIRE ASSIST HOOKS

Prossimo viaggetto pescherò profondo, almeno quella è l'intenzione, il che significa possibilità di big dogtooth e certezza di squali; del primo si dice che non taglia, ma in realtà mi è successo col pesce a vista e quindi senza errori di identificazione, e devo dire che su un pesce grosso a combattimento finito brucia, quello che è strano è che succeda a volte sì e a volte no, credo dipenda da eventuali denti scheggiati durante il combattimento; i secondi non sono molto amati in genere ma io li trovo dei gran combattenti e ho sempre piacere di confrontarmi con loro.
Ecco quindi la necessità, dal mio punto di vista, di avere assist a prova di taglio, per quanto a volte sembrino ridurre la quantità di abboccate, ma forse meglio pochi presi che tanti persi; del terminale in acciaio sopra il jig cercherò di fare a meno, dato che quello realmente riduce l'attrattiva dell'esca.. speriamo di essere fortunati e avere qualche buona allamata.

Next trip i will try jigging in very deep water looking for doggies, but that means also shark encounters;  many fishermen say that dogtooth doesn't cut assist and leader, but I saw it happen at boatside and I can grant it is realy disappointing to loose a big fish after a long fight almost won, I guess it depends on some broken tooth with cutting edges, maybe due to jig impact as I also had fishes with leader deep in the mouth and no problem for the nylon, but better safe than sorry; shark by the other side are not very wellcome by many, but I always love to fight some of them, especially if big one.
So I have the need of uncuttable assist, even if sometimes they seem to reduce the number of hits, but in some situations it is better few landed than many lost in my opinion.
I will try to avoit the wire leader ahead of the jig as that definitely reduce strike numbers ... and hope.
